Sauve - The Village

The  medieval Sauve
Sauve is a little, nice, medieval village. A small river, the Vidourle, is flowing through it. However, in flood it is a wild torrent, as we could read on the flood markers.  At any time, after many meanders it flows into the Mediterraneum  near Aigues Mortes .

Sauve is located on a slope. That's why they have so much up and downs.
The Rue de Boisseliers is something like the main street in town. Although it is very narrow. Some little shops, cafés, restaurants and a museum for hay forks you will find here.
All together very picturesque. Remarkable are the many art galleries, 20 we have counted: among others ceramics, painting, photography, embroidery, furniture, art glass, sculptural.

There are also some nice restaurants in Sauve. Le Bossens above the town  looks good with its nice, shady terrace and a wonderful view on the town and the river. When we wanted to eat there the restaurant was closed indeed. It seemed to be relatively expensive there. We had a nice meal in  the "Grill Le Saloon" at the Place de Vabre next the  Vidourle bridge .I had as starter an "assiette de charcuterie de pay" (selected  sausages from the region). The main dish was duck breast with pepper sauce and fried potatoes. The dessert was a selection of typical French desserts from the region of  Gard. Totally for  19,90€ and it was delicious.
